- Learn carriage driving techniques and how to negotiate a course
- Discover the thrills of back stepping a carriage driven by an experienced carriage driver
- Round off your experience with refreshments and a tour of the Chariots of Fire stables
Participate in an equestrian experience with a difference to learn the basic principles of carriage driving. Following a safety briefing, watch a demonstration of how to harness a pony and the correct technique for putting it into the carriage. Take part in a one-to-one lesson with a friendly trainer to pick up the basics of driving. There’ll be the chance to use those newfound skills to negotiate a course of cones and barriers. After a coffee break, hop onto the back step of a carriage driven by a trainer around the pretty local lanes or in the indoor school. Finish by meeting the other residents of the stables, including a rescue donkey, and leave with a new appreciation of carriage driving.

Seven days a week, all year round. Weekends tend to be very busy and we recommend you allow at least six weeks booking notice. - Participant Guidelines
Minimum age: 3 years. Under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult. Maximum weight is 17 stone. The centre introduces people with additional needs to ponies and carriage driving. Please contact them prior to booking to discuss tailored activities. - Weather
As there are indoor and outdoor facilities at the venue, the weather will not affect this experience. - Duration
Lasts for approximately three hours with at least one hour of driving time each. - Numbers on the Day
This is an exclusive experience with just the two of you and your instructor. - Dress Code
Wear comfortable clothes (e.g. leggings, jodhpurs or track suit bottoms) with wellingtons or riding boots (no trainers please). You can wear your own hat (if it conforms to safety standards) or the venue can provide one. - Other Info
All our vouchers are fully flexible and can be redeemed against our huge range of experiences. Sessions are tailored to each individual’s needs. The instructor is by your side at all times and will take things as slow or as fast as you all feel comfortable with. Spectators are welcome and are able to watch the whole experience.
